Konichiwa PEEPS!
Today, I’m going to talk about my homestay in Japan. Homestay with whom? My pen pal, Anna! She’s an 8th grader like me and speaks really well English. So what could go wrong?
(Apparently everything…)
On May 12th, we went shopping! Of course, we would go shopping. Who wouldn’t? You’re Japan for goodness sakes! Buy something! Anyway, that day was sad and fun. Honestly, I didn’t know what to feel. So why was I sad? Well, the day before when we visited Keiai, a sister school to HMS and where we meet our homestay students, Kira (hmskira) and I were planning out for our free day (which is May 12th) with our hosts. However, when we were trying to meet somewhere, Kira, on the phone, plainly said, “It’s fine. We are going to see each other tomorrow anyway.” Which was true, but it kind of hurt me. It’s okay though. I still had fun. Plus, I found a different group with my friends on it! So I shopped with them instead. What did I buy? Well, a bought a chibi Ariel, Belle, and Harry Potter at an anime store. Then I got at a different store an anime called Popkuo and Pipimi plushies for my friend, Chad (hmschad). I got them mostly because we both laughed at how funny the meme was. Yes, it was a meme. But funny! Here’s the link.
After shopping, we went to eat lunch at a really good ramen place. You get your own booth to eat your own ramen, or soba, or udon. Basically, any noodles or anything else! Like rice or curry! By the way, you order it at a machine to get a ticket then give that ticket to the people outside of the booth. It’s some cool technology. Also, if you wanted to, you could have ordered more items. Like rice or even a noodle refill! I got the noodle refill. Yep, I did. I was hungry okay?! After lunch, both Anna and I went with her friend to a place to eat dessert! To do that, we left the group. But hey, at least we had fun shopping and playing games in an arcade! Anyways, we ate at a really good strawberry cafe. They had all kinds of strawberry foods there. Not only dessert but actual food too. Not made of strawberries though. That would be weird. So I got a strawberry parfait or sundae. Both Anna and her friend got a strawberry drink thing. I don’t know what it is. After that, we went back home. Or at least, to Anna’s home.
There, we played the Wii U! It was fun. We played the Olympic Games one. The one where you chose a player from Sonic or Mario’s team and face off the opponent in an Olympic game. I kept on choosing Blaze and Tails from Sonic. It was fun, and I was really loud too. I hope they didn’t mind that. Anyway, what I can say about that day was that it was amazing. They were a really great family. They always get along with each other and talked to each other in English or Japanese. They always had fun, loved each other, and even Anna and her little brother got along too. They never fought like how normal siblings would. Honestly, it filled my heart with joy knowing that they supported each other the most. Even when it’s tough when trying to do things on their own, they make time to spend with their family and help each other out whenever needed. Something that my family really need to understand, at least half of my family does. The other half as gone far to support me. Anyways, that’s how my day went. Oh, right, dinner. Well, I ate homemade pizza! Didn’t expect pizza that coming, huh?
Welp, that’s about it. That’s my homestay experience. So overall reflection, Japan is a really great place to have fun and my homestay was really nice. I loved it. I wanna go back some time. Anyways, this I think is my last and final post for this year and the rest of the years after that. Farewell, PEEPS and arigato gozarimasu for reading throughout the years. Bye!
